Prerequisites
- A Meta Business account
- WhatsApp Business API access (apply through Meta)
- A verified business phone number
- Agent Rush Pro or Enterprise plan
Setup Steps
Create a Meta App
Go to developers.facebook.com and create a new app. Select "Business" as the app type.
Add WhatsApp Product
In your app dashboard, click "Add Product" and select WhatsApp. Follow the setup wizard.
Get API Credentials
Copy these values from your Meta app:
Phone Number ID
Found in WhatsApp → Getting Started
WhatsApp Business Account ID
Found in WhatsApp → Getting Started
Access Token
Generate a permanent token in System Users
Connect in Agent Rush
Go to Dashboard → Integrations → WhatsApp and enter your credentials.
Configure Webhook
Copy the webhook URL from Agent Rush and add it in your Meta app's WhatsApp configuration:
Webhook URL: https://api.agent-rush.com/webhooks/whatsapp/YOUR_AGENT_ID
Verify Token: YOUR_VERIFY_TOKEN
Test the Connection
Send a message to your WhatsApp Business number. Your agent should respond automatically.
Message Templates
WhatsApp requires pre-approved templates for initiating conversations. Agent Rush handles this automatically for responses, but you'll need templates for:
- Proactive notifications (order updates, reminders)
- Re-engaging customers after 24 hours of inactivity
- Marketing messages
Note: Template approval can take 24-48 hours. Plan ahead for campaigns.
